Non-League teams were back in action up and down the country this weekend. Read our review of Saturday’s contests.

League leaders Tranmere Rovers made it five wins in five as they toppled Maidstone United 2-1 at Prenton Park. Even though it is still early on in the season, Rovers look set to be the team to catch. Lincoln City demolished hapless Southport 4-0, with striker Jonathan Margetts on the scoresheet for all. The defeat means that The Yellows have a goal difference of -11, having conceded 14 goals in five matches. Bromley recorded their first win of the season, beating Gateshead 3-2. Both teams finished the game with 10 men each. Dagenham and Redbridge continued their strong start to the campaign with a 3-1 away victory against strugglers Woking, who are also still in the hunt for their first victory. Elsewhere, there were victories for Sutton United, North Ferriby United, Dover Athletic, Forest Green Rovers, Solihull Moors and Braintree Town.

Alfreton Town and AFC Hyde played out a cracker at North Street, with Manchester based Hyde running out 5-3 winners. FC Halifax dominated away side Tamworth, beating them 4-0. Brackley Town edged a close encounter at Edgley Park, defeating their hosts Stockport County by four goals to two. Nuneaton Town remain rooted to the foot of the table after a narrow defeat to Salford City. Harrogate Town remain undefeated in the league courtesy of a 3-2 away win at Bradford Park Avenue and move into second place, tied on 11 points with FC Halifax Town. Elsewhere, Gainsborough Trinity, Kidderminster Harriers and Chorley all recorded victories whilst Gloucester City and Darlington do battle at 3pm today.

East Thurrock United thumped Gosport Borough 5-1 in front of a crowd of 203 at Rookery Hill. Maidenhead United cemented their place at the top of the table with a 1-0 home win over Chelmsford City. Home teams Ebbsfleet United, Hampton and Richmond Borough and Oxford City played out 2-2 scoreline against Hemel Hempstead Town, Truro City and Concord Rangers respectively. Newly promoted Hungerford Town suffered their first loss of the season, going down to a 2-0 reverse at home to Eastbourne Borough. It was a tale of irony at the Woodspring Stadium, where Dartford earned their first victory of the season against high-flyers Weston-super-Mare, condemning The Seagulls to their first loss of the season. Welling United remain a club in turmoil, the recently relegated side losing again against St Albans City. The South Londoner’s are still in search for their first win of the season. Elsewhere, Poole Town and Bath City gained maximum points in their matches.

In another turbulent game, both Worthing and Harlow Town were reduced to 10 men apiece, but the seasiders ran out 3-2 winners, making it nine points out of nine. Metropolitan Police stopped the rot after having lost their first two games by holding Harrow Borough to a 0-0 draw. Staines Town defeated Billericay Town despite a spirited comeback from the Essex side. Martin Tuohy was the man of the match for his side Canvey Island, completing a hat-trick to beat Leatherhead 3-0. Needham Market gained their first win of the season, beating Kingstonian 2-1 in front of 234 strong crowd. Leiston and Tonbridge Angels made it three wins in three after victories over Dulwich Hamlet and Lowestoft Town respectively.
