Sutton United full back Dan Wishart has been signed by Gloucestershire side Forest Green Rovers.

Wishart, who has played for the England C team, started his career at Hayes and Yeading before moving to Gander Green Lane in 2014.

The left back has been on the radar of several Football League clubs but has decided to pledge his future to FGR. In a TV interview with his new club, he described himself as “an attacking full back” who “loves to get forward and score goals”.

Sutton boss Paul Doswell described the move as “A good move for both Dan and the club” which apparently involved “A substantial fee”.

Wishart helped The U’s win the National League South title new year and will be aiming for promotion with Rovers.
