Within the next few hours, Shrewsbury Town are expected to announce the departure of their manager Micky Mellon. It seems that 44 year old Scot, is going to be taking over the vacancy at National League side Tranmere Rovers.

Mellon, a former Tranmere player, had a promising start to his time at Shrewsbury. Having joined in May 2014, he gained promotion from League Two in his first full season at the club. Since then he has struggled, coming under pressure from many Town fans in recent weeks. With only 2 wins in 11 games this season, it looks like Mellon is making the jump to his former club before he is pushed.

It’s a big coup for the former league side Tranmere, who have been without a manager since the sacking of Gary Brabin on September 18th. Sitting in 9th place, and 6 points off top spot, the promotion hopefuls will be looking to their former player to rejuvenate the squad and push on for the rest of the season.
