After the departure of manager Marcus Bignot, the National League side have moved quickly to appoint a new manager, namely ex Birmingham striker Keith Bertschin.

The 60 year old Londoner will take the reins on Saturday, against Dover Athletic. The Moors currently sit 15th in the table and will be looking for Bertschin to make an immediate impact, having only taken three points out of the last twelve.

Bertschin has previously spent time at Hull City as a coach under the stewardship of Steve Bruce, as well as at Wigan Athletic, Sunderland and Birmingham.

This signals Bertschin’s first appointment as a head coach, with the club announcing that he will be supported by various members of Solihull Moors backroom staff until a further coaching appointment is made.

Bertschin suffered the ignominy of being sacked by Hull City as he was about to board a team coach for a pre-season tour to Austria in August 2016.
