Martin Allen has returned to his former side and signed Barnet defender Gavin Hoyte.

The 26 year old was once highly rated rising star at Arsenal. Having progressed through the Gunners youth system, he signed for the first team but never really made his breakthrough.

After a number of loans, Arsenal released the full back in 2012 and he’s struggled to settle down. Hoyte had a spell at Dagenham & Redbridge but walked away from the club despite a good contract offer. He since went on to Gillingham for a year then signed for League Two Barnet in the summer of 2015.

Here Hoyte played under new Eastleigh boss ‘Mad-Dog’ Allen. His playing time has been limited this season, and Allen has taken the opportunity to strengthen his side by getting the Trinidad & Tobago international on a 18 month deal.

As Hoyte drops down into the National League he finds his new club sitting in 11th place and 9 points from a play-off place. The Spitfires will be hoping their new defender will be able to add some depth to the back line and help their promotion push.
