It’s not every day a player has the fortune to bag himself three goals. It’s even rarer when said player scores two hat tricks, for two different teams, on the same day. In fact, it’s never happened before.

But that’s exactly what George Gaskin has done. We caught up with the striker after his goalscoring heroics had netted him an amazing WORLD RECORD. Gaskin, 26, currently turns out for Littlehampton Town who compete in the Southern Combination Football League aswell as Ryman South outfit Horsham.

His goalscoring exploits on Boxing Day have earned him national recognition, with many newspapers calling for interviews, leaving his phone “going mental” and described the whole situation as “very surreal”. He scored his first hat trick of the day for Littlehampton, as they ran out 4-1 winners against local rivals Worthing United. He then had a short dash up the road to Gorings Mead, arriving 5 minutes before kick off. He was thrown on with 15 minutes to go, and scored three goals for the Sussex side, beating Godalming Town 8-1.

But Gaskin’s talents don’t end on the pitch. He has managerial experience, even at such a tender age. He was given the manager’s job at his hometown club of Littlehampton FC for a year before a replacement was found. “I got asked to be manager as I broke my leg” he said. “I wasn’t sure if I was going to play again”.

Gaskin led The Golds to an 11th placed finish before stepping down. The striker does have fond memories of his time in charge, as in his own words “It made me a better player seeing the game from both sides”.

Despite all the attention he has been getting, Gaskin is just keen to crack on with he season, aiming to “keep scoring to see how many I end up with”. His tally already stands at 33, having notched up three hat tricks prior to this feat.

Who knows what the future holds for the striker, but no doubt eyes will be on him at his next fixtures for either club.
