Following the opening of the January transfer window, winger Jack Mackreth has signed for League One Bury for an undisclosed fee.

Having re-joined Macclesfield Town in July 2016, the 24 year old winger finally makes the step up to the Football League. Mackreth previously had spells with Tranmere (twice), Barrow and Grimsby before returning to the Silkmen.

During his time at Grimsby he was in touching distance of League Two. He starred in their playoff campaign in 2014-15. Narrowly missing out on promotion after losing on penalties to Bristol Rovers.

Mackreth has signed an 18 month deal with Bury struggling in League One. They find themselves a point out of the relegation zone. The Shakers haven’t won a game since September, and with league leaders Sheffield United visiting Gigg Lane on Monday, they will be hoping Mackreth can help turn their poor run around.
