With the transfer window in full swing, Grimsby are looking to strength with two National League stars.

Manager Marcus Bignot, has so far unsuccessfully tried to raid his former side Solihull Moors for two of his former players. Bids for stop scorer Akwasi Asante and Jimmy Osbourne have both been rejected by Chairman Trevor Stevens.

Interest is believed to be high in both players, but with the Moors only 9 points out of the relegation zone boss Liam McDonald will be eager to hold onto the 24 year olds.

It is believed Grimsby will return with an improved offer, with Bignot desperate to improve his squad and the team’s fortunes. Since taking over in November, Bignot has only managed to lead the team to 3 wins out of 10 but still find themselves only 5 points off the play-offs.

Meanwhile, Solihull have confirmed the signing of former Wrexham defender Nortei Nortey. The former Chelsea trainee has been on loan at the Moors since December, and has done enough to earn a permanent deal.
