Ryman Premier side Billericay Town are set to announce the ambitions signing of former England international Paul Konchesky before this weekend.

The Essex based outfit were taken over by Glenn Tamplin in December, and since then he has made his plans to climb up the Non-League pyramid clear. Following some impressive signings from the National League, including Mekhi McLeod from Eastleigh, it seems that the Gillingham left back will soon be joining the Blues.

Following a change in management at Gillingham, the former Liverpool and Fulham defender has seen his chances in the first team limited. This has opened the door for Tamplin to seize the opportunity for a massive signing.

Bringing in a player of Konchesky’s experience, which includes 15 caps at U21 level and 2 senior England caps, which came during friendlies against Argentina and Australia, would help Tamplin reach his target of National League football.

A press conference has been arrange for 6pm on Thursday 2nd March, where it is expected that Konchesky will be unveiled.
